A poem I’ve already posted on-line more than once over the decades, but in our current moment, I feel it might need saying again…
Love travels light in these hard times Where there’s so little to sustain her, In this strange, starved and lonely land Where all the sharp debris of hate Litters every homeward road we find, Where indifference covers every sign, And every pool and well of mercy And compassion has gone dry, So like pilgrims, we must journey, Shedding anything that hinders, Leaving faithless doubt and all regret And useless pride behind us in the dust, There is no map to where we go Except the way that’s written in our hearts, There is no star to steer by, No light more constant than our love, So let us go with care and hope, And cherish each the other, And as we go, still take the time To cheer our fellow travelers, Sow kindness like a weed along our way, Plant hope and gentleness at every rest, And keep the promises we make, And hold fast to the promise that we are.
Definitely worth reading more than once, and sharing with others 🙂
