The garden-
ever in progress...
I’m posting here some photos of my conifer garden for no particular reason other than I like looking at my garden almost as much as I enjoy working in it. I welcome your critique as long as I don’t have to pay for it.
Over the spring and summer, the collection of about sixty trees, many in containers, will be incorporated into a hillscape that looks less like a collection and more like a garden. The past three years have been spent primarily moving earth, trying to shape this clay bank into a form that could accommodate an accessible garden.
It was impossible to get heavy equipment into this site, so stones and earth had to be dug and hauled and placed by hand. Meanwhile I’ve been collecting as many trees as caught my fancy and I could afford, maybe more than I could afford. Now at last, I can begin concentrating more on placing individual trees where they can be appreciated and contribute their stories to the narrative the garden wants to tell.
Of course, every garden is a neverending story. One never knows what new beginnings might emerge in the next chapter. I’ll keep you posted.

cuteee! I explored this cute duo who’s planting flowers in SF by “seasoning the earth” in a short 3-min piece if you’d ever like to check it out, would love your thoughts.

Love the images that show how you have been working the structure of the garden...so much progress since the first I saw, what, probably three years ago now! Good hard work to be proud of Henry! Hope the spring and summer is good to you!
